At the Edge of Society
In the past year, the media in the US and around the world has given increasing attention to immigration, minorities, and their role in society. We believe that minorities, or any historically oppressed parts of society for that matter, should be welcomed and integrated into society. Beside the dignity and respect entitled to every human being, we know that greater diversity provides for a more flourishing, happy, and successful society.
By putting music "at the edge of society" on stage at a public concert, we welcome it into our mainstream life. By listening to it and experiencing it, each in our own way, we relate to the inner world of these oppressed entities. In each of our concerts this season, we bring works by composers living at the edge of society and that focus on historically oppressed or neglected characters.
